Easter is primarily known as the time to commemorate the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The exact date of Jesus’ crucifixion is not known but is recognized based on the spring equinox and can occur between March 22 and April 25.
Having read the Easter story as described in the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John multiple times, I am deeply moved by the last words spoken by Jesus while he hung on the wooden cross—His hands and feet pierced, His body bruised, and His spirit burdened by the weight of humanity’s sin. He bore the punishment meant for others, offering forgiveness even as He was mocked and abandoned. Jesus spoke words filled with love and mercy, “Father forgive them for they do not know what they do.” “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” “I thirst,” which refutes all arguments that claim Jesus was not truly human.
As Easter draws to a close, we are reminded that its message is not confined to a single day, but lives on in every act of grace, every moment of renewal, and every quiet prayer of gratitude. The empty tomb speaks of a love that conquers death, a hope that defies despair, and a promise that we are never alone. Whether celebrated in silence or song, Easter invites us to carry its light forward—to live with compassion, walk in faith, and remember that resurrection is not just a miracle of the past, but a calling for the present.
